My Artist's Proof and Limited Edition Prints
All reproductions of my original artwork are authorized, signed and created exclusively by me in my studio.
All giclee print master images are owned by and will be retained by me after the total number of authorized reproductions have been made.
To begin the print creation process, a painting is first photographed in ultra high definition. The digital image is then meticulously matched against the original to perfectly match color, contrast, brightness and detail. Trial prints are then made, with additional adjustments made to the digital image after each one, and until the printed image is deemed a perfect reproduction of the original work. These initial 5-10 prints are the artist's proofs. Once the final image is ready, limited edition museum quality giclee prints are produced utilizing the latest fine art printing technology of the 12 pigment ink HP Designjet Z3200 photo printer. HP attests 200 years of true color longevity under normal lighting conditions.
The highest quality, most durable prints are made with HP Matte Litho-Realistic Paper. With a color stable coating, this paper has the look and feel of heavy, offset paper, especially with a wood fiber base, a weight of 269 gsm, and a thickness of 12.1 mil. Also, it is rated with a brightness of 95%, a whiteness of 95%, and an opacity of 98%. Prints are designed to last on this color-stable, lignin free, buffered paper.
Some of my favorite oil paintings are also available as framed limited edition prints on HP Professional Matte Canvas. This canvas media is a blend of cotton and polyester and designed for fine art reproductions. The material is very heavy with a 390 gsm basis weight along with a thickness of 22 mil. It offers a brightness of 101%, a whiteness of 130%, and an opacity of greater than 98%. Color longevity for a canvas giclee is equal to that of reproductions printed on archival Matte Litho-Realistic paper.
A canvas giclee is printed and then "stretched" onto a wooden frame. It is sealed and then enhanced with painting on top of the print. The finished piece is then framed in the same manner as an original painting. An excellent reproduction will often be difficult to distinguish from the original. All of my reproductions are limited editions and are accompanied by a signed, numbered certificate.
